So these biology students at a university were given a task. Observe two sets of mice; one is genetically engineered to be smart and the other set, just plain and simple. They were to track both the smart and not-so smart behavior these mice displayed. The time they took in finding the cheese, the ability to avoid dead-ends in their maze-filled cages and etc. Students came up with list of intelligent behavior super smart mice displayed. These mice knew what they were doing and barely showed any signs of unintelligence, according to the students. As for the normal mice, the opposite was reported. And well, they, the students, got it wrong. There was no smart gene implanted in any of the mice.
The big lesson of this experience was about perception, and not genetic engineering. The power of mind over eyes, ears and heart. Sometimes, multiple set of eyes and ears as you tune out the world and people in it.
We are all unequivocally guided by certain perception. No one is at fault for carrying one or two or three. Frankly, I admire the people who embrace different perceptions and discern what speaks true to them. But the degree you hold onto your perception, the blind faith you have on your perception to be the redeeming truth is a bit scary. And filthy. Like those mice.
I believe conviction and perception differ. You use perception to justify your actions and words. You act and speak out of conviction.
I really hope I don’t get those twos mixed up. And don’t sound like….. a mouse.
